User Privacy Choices for DotsAndBoxes
You have control over your privacy when using DotsAndBoxes. Here are your options:
1. Choose How You Play
Play Locally (No Data Shared)
Select "Play Local" to enjoy pass-and-play with another person on the same device. No information is sent to our servers. Your gameplay stays entirely on your device.
Play Online (Minimal Data)
Select "Play Online" to play with friends over the internet. Only the information needed for the game (e.g., a display name you choose and game state) is shared. You can use any name—real or made up.
2. Control Your Display Name
When playing online, you choose the name other players see. You can:
- Use a nickname or pseudonym
- Use a different name each time you play
- Change your name when hosting or joining a new game
3. Control Room Access
When you host a game, you create a private room. Only people with your room code can join. Do not share your room code if you do not want certain people to join your game.
4. No Account Required
You do not need to create an account, sign in, or provide an email address to use DotsAndBoxes. You can start playing immediately.
5. Data Used for Online Play
If you play online, the following is used to run the game:
- Display name (you choose)
- Game board state (lines drawn, boxes claimed)
- Room code (to match players)
This data is used only for gameplay and is not used for advertising or sold to third parties.
6. Questions or Requests
If you want to know what data we have, request deletion, or have other privacy concerns, contact us through the App Store listing.
